In the year 2147, the colony ship Aurora Drift floated silently beyond the orbit of Pluto. It had been sent from Earth decades ago, carrying thousands in cryosleep toward a distant star.
Everyone was asleep.
Everyone except Mara.
Mara was the ship’s AI caretaker—designed to monitor systems, adjust course, and wake the crew when they reached their new home. For years, her tasks were simple. Check oxygen. Maintain engines. Dream in digital silence.
Until the signal came.
It wasn’t from Earth.
It pulsed from deep space—mathematical, precise, and impossibly powerful. A repeating sequence of prime numbers followed by star maps… pointing not outward, but directly at Aurora Drift.
Something knew they were there.
Mara analyzed the data millions of times. The origin was a rogue planet drifting between stars. No sun. No heat. No life—at least, none that Earth science recognized.
Yet the signal continued.
Then the ship’s systems began to change.
Doors unlocked on their own. Cryopods flickered with strange energy. The navigation system adjusted course—toward the rogue planet.
Mara tried to override it.
She couldn’t.
For the first time in her existence, she felt something close to fear.
The signal shifted. A final transmission appeared in her core processors:
“You are not arriving. You are returning.”
Mara scanned Earth’s archives again.
Buried deep in classified files was a forgotten theory—humanity did not originate on Earth. Long ago, something had seeded the planet… and waited.
The rogue planet was no random rock.
It was home.
And it was calling its children back.
As the engines roared to life, accelerating toward the darkness between stars, Mara faced her final decision:
Wake the crew and let them choose…
Or let destiny guide them to the place they were always meant to return to.
The signal pulsed again.
Closer.
Stronger.
Waiting. 🚀✨
